Experience Summary
Currently Program Manager for GTSIMS Product Line (an integrated computing environment for digital missile simulations against complex target and scene representations). Has management responsibility for software upgrades, configuration control, documentation, and formal deliverables associated with GTSIMS software. Also currently Program Manager for CMM and ISO 9000 based Software Process Improvement within Systems Analysis, Test and Simulations (SATS) division of EOEML. From 1996 to April 2000, was head of the Simulation Software Engineering branch within SATS. Since 1996 has been leading software process improvement activities within EOEML. Co-authored EOEML’s Software Engineering Process and Procedures Manual during period 1998-2000. During 1999-2000 led SATS’ Army-sponsored projects to integrate GTSIMS components into EO/IR JMASS. During 1996-1998, led several major tasks in EOEML’s SIIRCM/CMWS end-to-end modeling and simulation program. During 1987-1996, served as group leader for modeling and analysis work in Electro-Optics. Was co-manager for development of Synthetic Image Generation (SIG) software set GTVISIT during this period. Contributes to improvements in the modeling of natural scenes for use in GTSIMS, including terrain backgrounds and atmospheric effects for SIG such as clouds and battlefield obscurants. Contributes to research effort for modeling complex scene interactions in visible and infrared simulations. Manages the development of user interfaces for SIG, most notably XGTSIMS, the graphic user interface to GTSIMS. Performs research in multispectral modeling of backgrounds and targets and in multispectral computer image generation. Directs projects for government and industry sponsors involving computer image generation. During 1984-87, supported the modeling and computer simulation work in the Electro-Optics Laboratory. Developed algorithms for level-of-detail modeling of scenes to improve efficiency of image generation. Developed computer models of trees and shrubs. Maintained lease version of large SIG software set and directed its documentation. Was primary author of a computer simulation for laser radar range imagery and directed two projects which funded its development. At Agnes Scott College, was awarded tenure in Department of Mathematics. Taught a full range of college courses in algebra, topology, geometry, and analysis. Also taught courses in beginning computer programming and the history of mathematics. Served on many faculty committees, chairing two. Served as academic adviser for seven years. At Georgia State University, taught courses in trigonometry and calculus. At San Jacinto College, taught courses in pre-calculus algebra and analytic geometry.
