Providing Better Information For Hospitals And Healthcare Personnel
A pilot project being developed through the Logistics and Maintenance Applied Research Center at GTRI may one day provide a powerful form of assistance to healthcare workers. The Medical Electronic Performance Support System (MedEPSSTM) consists of Web-based software that acts as a job aid and reference tool for nurses, admissions personnel and other hospital workers.
|
Critical Information at Hand
MedEPSSTM puts essential medical information in healthcare providers' hands, at the patient's side. From their mobile device, they have access to patient history and prescription information. The tool also features automated symptom identification and information, and connects wirelessly to Web-based resources.
With critical information at their fingertips, healthcare workers can more easily make informed decisions and use the system to speed admissions procedures, as well as reduce billing and paperwork errors. These advantages can be measured in lower administrative costs for hospitals and higher-quality care for patients. Healthcare workers benefit, too, because the solution provides immediate and enhanced refresher training in a practical occupational setting.

Designed for Healthcare Professionals
The Landmarc team designed MEDEPPS to fulfill the needs of healthcare professionals at several points to support accuracy, communication, and timeliness. The benefit is better care and reduced medical errors.
Nurses
Nurses work more effectively with the aid of immediate drug interaction alerts, electronic communication with the pharmacy, interactive symptom decision support tools, and a medical diagnostics interface.
Nurses work more efficiently, too, thanks to MEDEPPS' time management tools, instant access to procedures and policies, and electronic shift reports. The solution encourages professional improvement through advanced distributed learning at the patient's bedside.
Trainers
MedEPPS has features especially for nursing trainers, as well. Their performance is improved through electronic tools for evaluating nurses’ skill levels, and instant reports.
Clinical Managers
Clinical Managers will find MedEPPS a valuable resource for quantitative evaluations. Relevant features include electronic tools for assessing the environment, electronic data aggregation, and medical error reporting.
